Where can I find a specific keyword cost on Google or on Yahoo?

For example, if I want to see how much a listing in the first five links for "teacher" costs, at Google or at Yahoo, is there a free tool that will show me what people are paying for those spots?

Yahoo removed the keyword price tool. Furthermore, even if they still had them, it wouldnt give you the exact cost because they use a quality score to determine how much more or less you will pay. That being said, to find out best estimates:

Yahoo: Open your account and click into the adgroup of the keyword. Click the keyword and it will give you an estimate of costs. note (I find that the estimates are way off).
Google: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
select Cost and ad position estimates from the drop down menu.
