Does anybody actually utilize the search tool when asking their questions?
I spend a fair amount of time here and it seems like most people just type in their questions, THEN SIT BACK AND LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT FOR THEM. The funny part is that if they would just go back a couple of pages, they would find their answer. Oh Well, Just thought I’d ask
There is an automatic search that pops up while you are typing your question (at least there used to be), so people are either just not paying attention, or are assuming that their question is different from the 10000 others that are on here or more important.

How to use Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) for molecular biology research?
Can someone please tell me the purposes of the blastn, blastp, tblastn, tblastx tabs on the top of the BLAST search page? I don’t really understand what each of these do. I have to do a research project for my class. Any help is appreciated.
The search engine you use just depends on what type of sequence you have. For example, if it is a nucleotide sequence, ie. AATTGCA…, you would use blastn.
Here’s what each blast stands for:
blastn: nucleotide
blastp: protein
tblastn: translated nucleotide
tblastx: not sure, but it’s similar to the tblastn.
Generally the latter two are used if you can’t find a good match with blastn/p, and you think the poor match may have been due to evolution of the protein sequence over time.

How do you remove the Alexa Web Search from tool bar?
I downloaded Alexa Sparky addon for firefox. now I have a Powered by Alexa (and logo) every time I Google. I have removed the add on, but it is still there. How do you remove it?
I’ve uninstalled it. It didn’t work it is still there. I have also gone under options and unticked to use use it as default. It is currently unticked and still shows up!
You can remove tool bar by using uninstall.
Just go to Add/ remove programs. And click on remove or uninstall that program
So that Alexa web search from tool bar.

How do I create a search tool (macro?) in an excel worksheet?
I am trying to create a little tool in excel to help some of the guys I work with find tools that they use. I have all the tools listed by name and location across a few pages of an excel worksheet. I want to create a front page which will have a field to be filled out to enter the tool name you are looking for, then you press ’search’, and the tool location will be given in a seperate field on the same page (plus project name and any other required data).
Does this require a macro, and if so how do you do them, as I haven’t got a clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
you might want to use the find method. I have put below a link of using the Find method in a macro.
